Lee career in office marked by failed promises, oppressive whim

In July 2018 Gov. Bill Lee “unveiled” a 10-point “Contract with Tennesseans.”

By John Gentry

“FRANKLIN, Tenn. – Today, businessman and Republican gubernatorial candidate Bill Lee released his detailed plan for Tennessee, which he’s calling Ten for Tenn. Ten for Tenn highlights ten key items Bill plans to focus on and enact as governor.

“As a CEO, it is important to set the vision for my company, and I believe it is just as important to set the vision for the state as governor,” said Lee. “‘Ten for Tenn’ is my contract with Tennesseans, and I look forward to working to enact my conservative vision for Tennessee.”

Mr. Lee’s Ten for Tenn included the following points:

1. Foster an Environment Where Jobs Continue to Grow

2. Rethink Public Education with Major Vocational Reforms, Real School Choice, and Civics Education

3. Stand up for Rural Tennessee by Expanding Economic Opportunity and Winning the War On Opioids

4. Get Tough on the State Budget by Making Government Smaller and More Efficient

5. Ensure New Voices in Nashville by Passing Term Limits and the Challenging the Influence Culture of Insiders

6. Create a New Office of Faith-Based and Community Initiatives

7. Make Government More Accessible, Open, and Accountable to Taxpayers

8. Protect and Defend a Culture of Life

9. Defend Our Constitutional Liberties Without Compromise

10. Enforce the Rule of Law on Immigration

Government bigger, less accountable

So how is Lee doing in fulfilling his “contract with Tennesseans”?

1. Foster an Environment Where Jobs Continue to Grow

Our businesses were shut down in gross violation of Article I, § 25 Tennessee Constitution, jobs lost, employees leaving the job market forever.

I would never have allowed our businesses to be shut down, since such power is prohibited to all branches of the government.

2. Rethink Public Education with Major Vocational Reforms, Real School Choice, and Civics Education

In civics education, our beloved constitution of the state of Tennessee is not taught to any student at any level leaving our entire citizenry ignorant of their rights and established form of government (also grossly violated).

I will ensure student curriculum from 4th grade up, include a comprehensive education of our Tennessee Constitution.

4. Get Tough on the State Budget by Making Government Smaller and More Efficient

Government is not smaller.

As an accounting professional, I will scour the budget looking for fraud, waste and abuse.  I am an expert in forensic accounting.  And most definitely I will eliminate spending for corrupt agencies like the Tennessee Board of Judicial conduct, and waste spending of $1 million dollars for “study” of how to improve court house security.

I will have a petition & remonstrance day at least once per month, more often if necessary, where citizens can come present me with their grievances or good ideas personally.  Those proceedings will be live-streamed

5. Ensure New Voices in Nashville by Passing Term Limits and the Challenging the Influence Culture of Insiders

Lee has said nothing, done nothing about term limits since taking office.

I guarantee term limits through exercise of rights to reform and alter our form of government, our right to exercise sovereignty, our right to instruct our representatives, and our right to present our instructions by address to the legislature.

7. Make Government More Accessible, Open, and Accountable to Taxpayers

Our entire government is not accessible with Lee’s own office oppressing the right of remonstrance.  In fact, legislation just passed making FOIA requests “harassment” punishable with assigning mediator and court costs to the FOIA requestor.

I will have a petition & remonstrance day at least once per month, more often if necessary, where citizens can come present me with their grievances or good ideas personally.  Those proceedings will be live-streamed and audio/video recorded available on demand.  Except if I am elected, government will never have been more accessible or accountable.

9. Defend Our Constitutional Liberties Without Compromise

Lee does not defend our constitutional liberties.  His “Constitutional Carry” a sham designed to deceive the people that they can carry when they cannot.  The Office of Governor under Lee, like all our state government, oppresses the right of remonstrance.

I will use the power VETO, right of remonstrance, and any lawful means to oppress oppression of protected rights.

10. Enforce the Rule of Law on Immigration

What a joke!  Our state government is welcoming illegal immigrants, especially unaccompanied illegal immigrant children so the state can rake in millions of $$$ from the federal government for foster care.

I would station State Troopers or the Tennessee State Guard at our airports and on our interstate highways turning around any federal contractors transporting illegal immigrants to our state.

So what do you want?  Do you want more of the same unkept promises?  Or do you want a governor who will enforce the state constitution and rights of the people? I am the only man defending our beloved Tennessee Constitution.
