‘Right to work’ amendment deceptive, pro-union

The “right to work” constitutional amendment is a scam.

By John Gentry

First, amendments to our beloved Tennessee Constitution are supposed to be “published” to the people. THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY ARE LIARS, CHEATERS, and/or INCOMPETENT.

The bill for the proposed amendment states as follows;

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, … that this resolution proposing such amendment be published in accordance with Article XI, Section 3 of the Constitution of Tennessee by posting such amendment on the official website of the Secretary of State and on the official website of the General Assembly.

In 1870 “published” did not mean posting on government websites that few of the citizenry visit. I can’t even find the proposed amendments on the general assembly website at a quick glance. Their process for amending our constitution is corrupt since “publishing” on a government website is not in accordance with Art. XI, Sect. 3. This is COMMON SENSE

In 1870 “published” meant printing in newspapers and perhaps printing pamphlets. In today’s world, these amendments should be advertised on TV, in newspapers and through social media.

Our corrupt government operates in secrecy, knowing that in ignorance, and through tricky language of the caption that will be on the November 2022 ballot, approximately 80 percent of the people will favor the amendment.

Bill aims constitution vs. the people

This so-called right to work is a scam, proposing to amend Article XI by adding the following as a new section.

It is unlawful for any person, corporation, association, or this state or its political subdivisions to deny or attempt to deny employment to any person by reason of the person’s membership in, affiliation with, resignation from, or refusal to join or affiliate with any labor union or employee organization.

Since before our admission to the union, and for the last 200+ years, we have gotten by just fine without garbage like this in our constitution. This language does not belong in our constitution. It does not even belong in statutory law.

The constitution is to protect the people against government, not against ourselves or our businesses. This amendment is as wrong as wrong can be.

How about making it unlawful for any “person, corporation, association, or govt.” to deny employment based upon medical status of what chemical we have decided to put, or not put, in our bodies?

How about that right to work? Govt obviously does not care about our “Right to Work.” Government only cares about lining pockets with filthy lucre, and that is what this amendment is about.

There is no evidence unions improve wages. Unions are run by attorneys. Unions collect forced dues. Unions sue businesses in corrupt courts of law and equity, and cost businesses millions.

Don’t let them California Tennessee. VOTE NO on this sham “Right to Work.”

John Gentry is a constitutional Republican and independent candidate for governor.
