This sketch from church this past Lord’s Day explains how the gospel message as preached from most pulpits focuses on a tiny area of interest — that of the individual following conversion. Personal piety, in other words, personal virtue, personal repentance. Over a career, a pastor may never get to numerous vital topics that affect questions of justice and prosperity. These topics might include whether prisons are godly or anti-Christ, whether state lotteries are just or whether state school systems are highly blessed or a judgment against us..
