The Homeschool Expo in just a few days is a wonderful opportunity in which you can shop for educational wares and meet other home educating moms and dads.

The Internet is giving us many new opportunities to take part in groups and to shop. We appreciate the many blessings of the digital economy, so much so that the Esprit is going digital with the next edition.

However, the world of the physical and the prospect of being in the same room with hundreds of other homeschoolers has new excitement. The Internet, despite its pitch for community, tends to separate people and allow us a false sense of community and connection.

Noogaradio logo 92.7 fmThe expo July 21 and 22 (a Friday and Saturday) is a place where real community and real neighbors get together and shop for the benefit of their children and their families. Our venue at Camp Jordan is crammed with prospects among more than 70 exhibitors. We have some of the best ones in the U.S., serving the homeschool market.

Our event is for the whole family. Your children can see old friends, and so can you. The curriculum fair is a way of saying yes to relationships and, in a way, no to the machine.

Homeschooling is intensely personal and intensely connected with the physical world. C.S. Lewis says a person is a soul with a body.

We souls who are moms and dads inhabit our houses with our children, smaller souls with bodies.

The claim of physicality and the limits of space and time are celebrated at our Camp Jordan event in East Ridge.

The expo is a wonderful occasion in which to live out some of the ideals of home education.

At our event in time and space, we exult in the quiet argument for self-government and self-determination — all right here in Chattanooga. Near is better than far. Small is better than big. Personal than corporate. Physical than abstract. Simple than complex.

Please attend the expo. But first, invite friends and parents considering trying it. Click this link and download or print out the flier below: WowChattanoogaExpo

We’re here to help. I’ll be there after lunch Friday and all Saturday. Please stop by the CSTHEA booth to say hello.
