Black activists and Democrat-oriented sympathizers have it easy. They complain bitterly about statues of Confederate notables such as Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest and, in Virginia, Gen.  Lee, the great gentleman and military visionary of Southern independence. Their argument is simple.
